Pilates is a form of exercise that aims to strengthen the body, with a specific focus on core strength.
Originally founded by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s, Pilates has grown within the health and fitness industry.
The aims of pilates are to assist with relieving pain and relaxation. It relieves back and neck pain, improving posture, balance and proprioception. Whilst strengthening, pilates also aims to improve joint range of movement by incorporating stretches throughout the session.
Rider pilates creates a balanced and strong rider. The use of gym balls allows riders to work on strength and balance whilst on an unbalance surface, replicating the horse. It increases your awareness of biomechanical weaknesses and symmetrical awareness.
